You don’t have to be an evangelist.
You don’t have to be “gifted.”
You don’t have to be a missionary.
You don’t have to be in full-time ministry.
You don’t have to have or start a “ministry.”
You don’t have to have a degree.
You don’t need more training.
You don’t need any training at all.
You don’t have to have all day.
You don’t have to neglect your family, job, or any other responsibilities.
You don’t have to be an apologist.
You don’t have to have all the answers.
You don’t have to have a winning personality.
You don’t have to “get decisions.”
You don’t have to look like the world, talk like the world, or act like the world.
You don’t have to ever worry about failing.
You don’t have to ever worry about pushing anyone away from Jesus.
You don’t have to worry about being “effective.”
What do you need?
You need to love Jesus and lost people more than you love yourself.

Jeannine says
I’ve gotten push back from my bible study group because I’m a woman and often share my faith without my husband being with me. Am I wrong in doing this? Didn’t Jesus call all of us to share the gospel?
Tony Miano says
Jeannine,
Thanks for writing. There is nothing in Scripture that demands your husband be present whenever you engage in evangelism. However, it is always best, whenever possible, to have other brothers and sisters with you when you engage in public/street evangelism in order to provide you with physical protection and spiritual accountability. I also recommend that a Christian have a brother or sister with him/her whenever he/she engages a stranger of the opposite sex in gospel conversation.
I have written at length about this subject in my book, “Should She Preach–Biblical Evangelism for Women.” http://www.amazon.com/Should-She-Preach-Biblical-Evangelism-ebook/dp/B00FL1WFK6

Jeannine, Tony’s comments provide wisdom for protection and spiritual accountability, which I believe are a few of the reasons why our Lord sent his disciples out two by two (Luke 10:1). Also, when we are reconciled to God through Christ Jesus, He has given us the ministry of reconciliation and gives us (literally puts into us) the word of reconciliation. Each of the reconciled are ambassadors for Christ, sent with his authority and his message, as though God were pleading through us to implore sinners to be reconciled to God. As Tony stated above, there is nothing in the Scriptures which command or even suggests that a woman only be a minister of reconciliation when her husband accompanies her. Be encouraged and keep preaching the Gospel.
Tony, thank you for being a faithful minister of reconciliation.
