Sometime ago I ruffled some feathers with several statements I made regarding Arminianism and those who subscribe to what I believe is an unbiblical, theological construct. In an effort to once again try to clear the air, I would like to make a brief clarifying statement.
I believe CONSISTENT Arminians are lost. I also believe most who claim to be Arminian are NOT theologically, philosophically, or practically consistent in their beliefs. Therefore, I believe most professing Arminians ARE my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Mr. Tracey McKinney says
Brother Miano, I am very confused with your thoughts in this post. Please clarify. I’m unsure what a “consistent Arminian” is. I don’t claim to be Arminian, but I am not a Calvinist either. However you define a “consistent Arminian”…it would seem to me that the exact opposite would have to be just as legitimately true. That is, if a “consistent Arminian” is lost, then in order to be saved you would have to be a consistent Calvinist. That seems to be an insurmountable bar to achieve in order to attain salvation; for who in the Calvinist world is always, perfectly consistent with Calvinism in thought, and action towards others? Also, what kind of Calvinism does one need to be consistent with in order to be saved? There are 4-point Calvinists, supralapsarian Calvinists, infralapsarian Calvinists, etc. All of these groups of Calvinists make the claim that the others are inconsistent. Please help me understand since the power of God’s Word lies in the understanding of it.
God bless.
